We are searching for a full time; medical records clerk to join our office team. Candidate should possess excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable with electronic medical records. The medical records clerk must always maintain confidentiality; knowledge of health records is preferred.

Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Receive and respond to incoming requests for health information.
  • Assist patients, process mail, respond to telephone and e-mail inquiries and retrieve facsimile (fax) inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Validate requests and authorizations for the release of information according to company procedures and HIPAA regulations.
  • Document requests and updates in the electronic tracking system as required by established procedures.
  • Ensure that requests and authorizations are scanned into the electronic health record system.
  • Complete release of information requests accurately and correctly, according to the content of the requests, company procedures, and established standards of quality and productivity.
  • Organize workload and prioritize work tasks to meet management’s production goals.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the current state and federal laws and regulations related to patient privacy, as well as facility policies and procedures regarding the release of information.
  • Help to foster a “team approach” with co-workers throughout the Practice to benefit the entire organization and best serve the patients’ needs.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with the practice Attendance Policy.
  • Other duties assigned by manager(s)

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Medical office experience preferred

Working Schedule

Office hours are Monday-Friday from 7am-4pm.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Ability to go up and own two flights of stairs throughout the day.
